The fixed term contract of Cann Group chief executive Jenni Pilcher has been converted into a permanent position for the start of the 2026 financial year.

Pilcher signed a 12-month deal in July 2024 which ended yesterday, July 1.

Cann Group chairman Doug Rathbone said the board had been “highly impressed” with Pilcher’s performance of CEO and managing director since taking over from previous boss Peter Koetsier.

“We are pleased that she has accepted the position on a permanent basis, a decision that aligns with the best interests of the company,” Rathbone said.

Pilcher joined Cann Group as a non-executive director in September 2020 before stepping into an executive role in February 2024.

Cann Group will report on its fourth quarter performance and unveil its year-end financial results later this month.

The People’s Plant

Queensland cultivator The People’s Plant has said it is “days away” from powering up its greenhouse as it continues to build towards commercial production.

While the firm has prided its operation on plants being grown under the sun, a “brief but very important part of their journey is in our greenhouse”, it said.

“To provide them with everything that they need in this special phase we need environmental control across lighting, humidity, and temperature — which means stable, high-quality, commercial-scale cultivation is nearly ready to roll,” the firm said in an update.

The People’s Plant added that construction of post harvest facilities has started and that its old R&D and greenhouse has been dismantled.

“Our test grows have served their purpose. Now we’re making space for the real thing — clean, efficient, high-volume production facilities,” it said.
