First there was Uber, then there was Uber Eats. Now the US could be set to welcome ‘Uber Green’ after CEO Dara Khosrowshahi told CNBC the ride-sharing company would consider getting into cannabis delivery if it is legalised federally.
Although recreational cannabis has been made legal in 16 US states, it remains illegal at the federal level.
When Uber acquired alcohol delivery service Drizly for US$1.1 billion in February, the deal did not include Lantern, a cannabis delivery service Drizly launched in May 2020, which continues to operate independently.
