A series of events to clarify the regulatory obligations of healthcare practitioners will begin next month as organisers warned that the stakes for the industry “have never been higher”.
Following the success of similar roadshows last year, Medical Cannabis Australia (MCA) will again join forces with the Australian Medicinal Cannabis Association (AMCA) to host three events to highlight the dos and don’ts of prescribing and dispensing.

The roadshows will focus on practitioners’ duty of care, beginning in Melbourne on October 23 before moving to Brisbane on November 13 and concluding in Sydney on December 3.
MCA founder and managing director Sharon Bentley said the events come at a critical time for the industry.
“With the TGA now undertaking a regulatory consultation process in response to poor practices across the sector, the stakes for prescribers and pharmacists have never been higher,” she said.
“These events are designed to provide clarity and practical guidance, ensuring healthcare professionals understand both their obligations and their opportunities in prescribing and dispensing medical cannabis responsibly.
“At MCA, we believe that industry leadership is not just about product quality, but about fostering trust, accountability, and ethical standards that support prescribers and pharmacists in meeting their duty of care and ultimately delivering better outcomes for patients.”
Speakers at the events include AMCA chairwoman Dr Teresa Nicoletti and Dr David Gunn, who heads AMCA sub-group, Cannabis Clinicians Australia.
