The number of medicinal cannabis prescriptions approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) in May has leaped back up to 9,965 after a significant drop off in April.

The increase comes after a system upgrade last month saw approvals fall to 6,682 and eclipses March’s record high of 9,959.

The TGA has now approved more than 120,000 SAS-B applications for unapproved medicinal cannabis products up to May 31, 2021.

However, the number of Authorised Prescribers fell from 279 in April to 263 by the end of May.
