Medicinal Cannabis Industry Australia (MCIA) has appointed Patty Holmes as its new executive officer, replacing Rosemary Richards on June 1.

A pioneer of the Australian medicinal cannabis industry, Holmes brings more than 15 years’ experience to the position, having previously worked in the pharmaceutical sector and as Althea’s chief operating officer before co-founding consultancy Holmes and Wilson

MCIA said in a statement: “Patty is passionate about improving patient access in a flourishing medicinal cannabis industry and looks forward to further driving membership value.”

Richards, who has been instrumental in the establishment and management of MCIA including governance arrangements and growing the membership base, will remain involved with the body for specific projects through her own consulting business.

MCIA chair Peter Crock added: “MCIA thanks Rosemary for her service and dedication to the organisation, and the cause, and wishes her the best for the future. 

“I look forward to working with Patty to continue MCIA’s important work, building on the tremendous foundation that we have established thanks to Rosemary’s guidance and incredible work capacity and ethic.”
