Cannabis Council Australia will be advocating for medicinal cannabis patients at the 2025 Sydney Mardi Gras Fair Day on Sunday (February 16).
Fair Day kicks off Sydney Mardi Gras season in Victoria Park and attracts thousands of attendees for a celebration of inclusivity, advocacy, and community.

Industry and government engagement lead at Cannabis Council Australia Matthew McCrone said: “We recognise the importance of engaging directly with the LGBTQIA+ community, many of whom are disproportionately affected by barriers to equitable healthcare.
“Cannabis Council Australia is committed to advocating for patient access, driving legislative change, and supporting an industry that prioritises compassion, inclusivity, and evidence-based care.”
Cannabis Council Australia’s stall at Fair Day will feature an interactive community space, where attendees can connect with advocates working to reform outdated policies – particularly those surrounding driving laws and patient stigma.
“Fair Day is a celebration of visibility, and it’s critical that patients – many of whom are members of the LGBTQIA+ community – are seen, heard, and supported,” McCrone added.
“Cannabis Council Australia’s presence at this event underscores our commitment to ensuring all Australians have access to their medication if prescribed, free from stigma and discrimination.”
Leafio
Montu-owned medicinal cannabis wholesaler Leafio has announced the launch of same-day delivery to select pharmacies across Sydney.
Leafio said the move will allow metro-based pharmacy customers to expedite their ordering process and ensure patients access their medicine “quicker than ever before”.
The firm said its three distribution centres in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane already facilitate next-day deliveries for more than 99% of orders for pharmacies across Australia.
Leafio General Manager Nicole Le Maistre added: “Following the successful introduction of same-day delivery to select customers in Melbourne, we are delighted to be able to offer the same service in Sydney.
“With this move, we will be able to further improve the connection between pharmacies, suppliers and patients through faster distribution.
“We hope this service will assist in making these medications more accessible to those who need them most.”
Jo Khoo, managing partner of Tom Lane Pharmacy in Greensborough, Victoria lauded the benefits of same-day delivery for his customers: “As a pharmacist, it’s important that we can provide our patients with the medicines they need in a timely manner,” he said.
Neurotech International
Neurotech has signed a partnership agreement with European Cannabis Company (ECC) subsidiary RH Farma, a specialist in the development and scale-up of cannabis-based products for pharmaceutical applications
The development aims to generate a strain-agnostic, pharmaceutical-grade broad spectrum cannabinoid drug product suitable for paediatric patients with neurodevelopmental disorders based on RH Pharma’s CO2 extraction technology.
Neurotech said the move aligns with its composition and formulation consisting of certain cannabinoids at specific concentrations that has demonstrated significant improvement in patients with progressive neuroinflammatory disorders including autism, Rett Syndrome and PANDAS/PANS.
