Germany
The German government has announced that the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food will help oversee adult-use cannabis research projects, including regional pilot trials of commercial models.
The role was previously undertaken by the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM), which will continue to oversee research into medicinal cannabis.
Germany’s CanG bill, passed earlier this year, allows adults to possess up to 50 grams of cannabis and cultivate up to three plants in private for personal use. From July 1, adults have also been able to apply to start a member-based cultivation association.
Regional pilot trials form part of the second phase of the country’s legalisation model.
