A number of new speakers have been confirmed for next month’s United in Compassion conference in what is expected to be the most important industry gathering since legalisation of medicinal cannabis a decade ago.

Officials from the Therapeutic Goods Administration will take to the stage on the third and final day of the event – February 28 – with the regulator’s consultation on medicinal cannabis regulations set to dominate the discussion.

The conference, which takes place at Brisbane’s Royal International Convention Centre on February 26-28, opens just 24 hours after the consultation findings are presented to the Medicinal Cannabis Expert Working Group, a forum chaired by TGA chief medical advisor Robyn Langham.

TGA officials have accepted an invitation to present at UIC in what, depending on the nature of the reforms – should they be clear by then – is expected be a lively session.

In addition to representatives from the regulators, numerous other speakers and panellists have been added to the line-up.

They include SOMAÍ Pharmaceuticals founder Michael Sassano, Medigrowth medical and research director Ashleigh Osborne, Heyday Medical co-founder Dr Jim Connell and Legalise Cannabis MP Brian Walker.

Also taking to the stage is Easykind product manager Gabriel Younes, harm reduction specialist Dr David Gunn, OnTracka chief executive Chad Walkaden and Medical Cannabis Australia quality and compliance manager Alanna Lean.

A number of international speakers will also join the conference including US physician and Harvard Medical School instructor Dr Peter Grinspoon and Aurora senior vice president global government relations Rick Savone.
