The rise of compounding will be the subject of a Medihuanna webinar next week as experts prepare to discuss its impact on the medicinal cannabis industry.
Among the issues up for debate is the swapping of commercially available manufactured medicine with compounded products. Cannabiz reported in October how the practice has been gathering pace in recent months.
Organisers said the need for discussion has become clear as “practices are emerging that could significantly impact patient care and the industry’s reputation”.
“We have noticed an increase in discussions around compounding in the Australian medicinal cannabis industry [and] feel it’s important to educate the medical community on this topic, since there are some concerns,” the education platform said.
Speakers include the owner of My Life My Health compounding business, Des Harp, GP Dr Anjali Didi, and pharmacists Quinn On and Marina Holt.
The panellists will discuss the overall landscape of medicinal cannabis products as well as examining TGA categories, brand substitution, ethical prescribing and dispensing and the risks and benefits of compounding medicinal cannabis.
It will also feature a Q&A session.
The free webinar takes place on December 7 at 7pm. To register click here.
