The newly-formed Medicinal Cannabis Council Australia (MCCA) has posted a job advertisement for its inaugural chief executive, requiring a leader to drive its strategic, operational and advocacy plan.
MCCA – formed from the merger of the Australian Medicinal Cannabis Association (AMCA) and Medicinal Cannabis Industry Australia (MCIA) – listed the role online this week as a full-time, Sydney-based position open to remote candidates.

The successful candidate will report to the board and be responsible for shaping the organisation’s strategic direction, strengthening its influence with government and regulators, and positioning MCCA as the authoritative voice on industry policy.
The job ad lists public affairs, policy and advocacy as a core pillar of the role – including developing submissions and thought leadership materials, monitoring regulatory developments and overseeing conferences and policy forums.
MCCA is also looking for someone to drive membership growth and deliver programs supporting members’ regulatory, operational and commercial needs.
On qualifications, the ad lists proven experience as a CEO, executive director or senior leader within a peak body, not-for-profit or advocacy organisation, along with expertise in public policy or government relations.
No renumeration package has been disclosed with candidates required to “add expected salary to your profile”.
