Medicinal Cannabis Council Australia (MCCA) has opened nominations for its inaugural board of directors.
Members of the former Medicinal Cannabis Industry Australia (MCIA) and Australian Medicinal Cannabis Association (AMCA) – which merged to form MCCA – are invited to reapply for their positions.
A nomination deadline has been set for April 13.

“The board will play a critical role in setting the strategic direction of MCCA, ensuring strong governance and representing the diverse interests of the medicinal cannabis sector across the value chain,” the association said in its call for nominations.
The board will comprise between seven and 10 directors. Three places have been allocated for healthcare practitioners, three for industry representatives, two will be independent and two have been reserved for those with a background in patient advocacy.
MCCA has scheduled a member webinar for April 29 where it will provide an update on the nomination process.
Depending on the number of nominations received, either the board will be named at the webinar or a poll of members will be conducted.
The organisation is also progressing a search for its inaugural chief executive, with the role listed on SEEK.
It is understood the role has attracted widespread interest with around 80 applications received as of Monday this week.
Candidates will be interviewed by MCCA interim joint chairs Teresa Nicoletti and Kristin Viccars and Little Green Pharma and former MCIA board member Paul Long.
