The fledgling Legalise Cannabis NSW party is asking members to submit a declaration of party membership form so it can be registered to run in the next state election.

With the deadline approaching, party secretary Gail Hester said: “We have over 1,500 members who’ve joined online and we need 750 paper forms to submit with our application which verifies our members are real people registered to vote.

“But we still need about 50 perfect member details as unfortunately quite a number of forms had errors where details did not match exactly the electoral roll and some people were not enrolled to vote.

She added: “We are so close. We are asking members who have not already done so to submit the declaration of party membership form to us by the end of this weekend.”

“We only get one shot at this and time is up in one week. If you want to be able to vote for legalising cannabis in NSW, we urge you to help us make this happen.”

Campaigners aim to register a party in every state and territory after the Help End Marijuana Prohibition (HEMP) Party changed its name to Legalise Cannabis Australia.
