Montu-owned Leafio has published a handbook to help pharmacists navigate the complexities of handling and dispensing medicinal cannabis.
Called Leafio Lens, the pharmacy handbook and resource guide offers what the wholesaler described as a “comprehensive, practical reference that supports pharmacists in learning, upskilling, and confidently dispensing medical cannabis”.

Key features include insights into Australian and global medical cannabis market trends and future outlook, counselling advice for pharmacists to support patient conversations, and a step-by-step guide to prepare pharmacies for medical cannabis stocking and dispensing.
It also includes educational content on terpenes, dosing, and administration methods for edibles, oils, flowers, and vaporisers.
Publication of the guide comes after the Pharmacy Guild of Australia put its members “on notice” and warned against putting profit above patient safety.
Leafio general manager Nicole Le Maistre said it was important to arm pharmacists with information to “drive better health outcomes”.
“Leafio’s Pharmacy Handbook offers practical advice, clear regulatory insights, and actionable strategies designed to make navigating the medical cannabis landscape both seamless and rewarding,” she said. “Together, we have the opportunity to redefine the patient experience and deliver better health outcomes for thousands of Australians.
“This resource addresses the real-world challenges pharmacists face, empowering them to safely guide patients through their medical cannabis treatment.
“By providing accessible, evidence-based education, we equip pharmacists with essential counselling techniques and dosing guidance to deliver personalised, effective care.”
