Healthcare practitioners will gather on Sydney’s Northern Beaches later this month to discuss the latest in medicinal cannabis research, regulatory compliance and prescribing best practice.
Co-hosted by Medihuanna and the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM), the two-day Medicinal Cannabis Practitioner Conference will bring together clinicians, researchers, pharmacists, policymakers and industry leaders for what organisers described as a “clinically focused and future-ready program”.

It takes place at the Manly Pacific Hotel in Manly on September 20 and 21.
At a time when prescribers are under more scrutiny than ever, the conference will focus on the advancement of safe, ethical and evidence-informed medicinal cannabis care.
“With a strong focus on multidisciplinary care, regulatory compliance and clinical integration, the MCP Conference empowers healthcare professionals to confidently incorporate cannabis into mainstream medical practice while putting patient outcomes and ethics first,” organisers said.
The program is designed for experienced prescribers and newcomers to cannabis medicine.
Among the speakers is Dr Danny Cai, the medical director of Telegreen Medical, who will discuss TGA guidelines and best practice in prescribing medicinal cannabis, while Cannatrek chief medical officer Dr Jim Connell will cover the untapped potential of medicinal cannabis in new and emerging markets.
Delegates will also hear from Dr Mark Hardy on cannabis dependence and prescribing THC medicine, Dr Laurence Kemp on the latest research for cannabis and pain relief, and Dr Jamie Rickcord who will discuss mental health and stress related psychopathology.
Dr Kemp will also present a separate session on mastering business compliance and best practice in a clinic setting.
Meanwhile, ANTG chief scientific officer Justin Sinclair will provide a historical perspective on the therapeutic use of medicinal cannabis while nurse practitioner Lisa Dick will offer her thoughts on the creation of a patient focused treatment plan.
Other speakers include pharmacist Louise McLean who will discuss the role pharmacists can play in patient care and clinical collaboration and associate professor Mike Armour who will present a session on medicinal cannabis and gynaecological pain.
Tickets for the conference can be booked here.
