A NZ news story claims the Aussies taking a trip across the ditch in the event of recreational cannabis use being legalised won’t seem different to the average tourist.

Canterbury University’s Dr Jarrod Gilbert said any influx of weed-smoking holidaymakers would help the tourism market – but he doubted anyone would notice them.

He said Kiwis have no concerns about people coming for Marlborough’s sauvignon blanc and so no-one should be concerned about them coming for top quality cannabis products.

Kiwis will be voting next month on the proposed Cannabis Legalisation and Control Bill – which would place New Zealand as the cannabis capital of the Pacific if passed into law.

So is cannabis tourism going to be the next big thing for New Zealand? Travel futurist Carolyn Childs told Cannabiz she thinks so. Check out this video where she explains why.
