FreshLeaf Analytics and Applied Cannabis Research (ACR) managing director Cassandra Hunt has left the group after 18 months.

Hunt, who wrapped up before Christmas, told Cannabiz she now plans to “grow a business from the inside” and expects to announce her next move shortly.

Cassandra Hunt: Australia well positioned to be a global leader

She added: “FreshLeaf and Applied Cannabis Research have given me an opportunity to learn a huge amount about the medicinal cannabis industry.

“I’ve had the honour of working with some incredibly talented people and organisations, providing advice on how to navigate this complex space, assessing investment opportunities, gathering and analysing real-world data, and designing strategies for success.

“My time in the medicinal cannabis industry has given me enormous appreciation of the power of plant-based medicine and integrative health more broadly. Cannabis is a plant with enormous potential to help people (and animals) across a range of conditions.

“I’m excited about watching the evidence base grow, and the industry with it, and believe Australia is well positioned to lead in the development of the global pharmaceutical cannabis space.”

Tim Drury, director of FreshLeaf and ACR owner Southern Cannabis Holdings, paid tribute to Hunt.

He said: “Cass was an excellent addition to FreshLeaf and Applied Cannabis Research, and led a lot of exciting and groundbreaking work for our clients. We look forward to our continued collaboration on future projects.”
