Medicinal cannabis company Elite Cannabinoids has received approval to cultivate and process a wide range of cannabis varieties at an undisclosed location 800 kilometres north of Perth.

The ABC reports the crop will span more than 46 hectares for cultivation, alongside a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, offices and accommodation.

The recently-licensed facility is expected to create more than 60 jobs.

Elite Cannabinoids chief executive Sebastian Cox said when it is fully operational in two years’ time “it will be one of the biggest medicinal cannabis facilities in the southern hemisphere”.
