Dr James Stewart has joined medicinal cannabis telehealth company Greencare Clinics with a mission to break down the stigma still surrounding the medicine.

Dr Stewart, who took out the Doctor of the Year and People’s Choice awards at the 2021 Australian Cannabis Industry Awards, said recent increases in prescriptions for patients with pain and mental health conditions was largely the result of each generation finding alternative, natural ways to manage their symptoms.

He added: “As Australia emerges into a post-Covid world, we’re seeing an increase in consultations for prescriptions across numerous generations for different health conditions.

“Once usage is de-stigmatised through education and research, it can be more accepted in medical practices and really make a difference… It’s about giving people a better quality of life again.”

Founded in 2021 by health and wellness entrepreneur George Moskos, Greencare’s team of Authorised Prescribers provides specialised advice for those wishing to access plant-based medicine.

Moskos said: “Medicinal cannabis has the potential to help Australians in all walks of life, with treatments tailored individually to each patient’s needs.

“With Dr Stewart joining our board, I’m more confident than ever that we can assist more Australians with consults to discuss how medicinal cannabis could work for their pain or help ease their symptoms.

“As further studies and advancements are announced in the medical field, I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this space as we find new ways to help people, naturally.”
