New prescribing rules introduced by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) could see life-changing treatment withdrawn from children and force parents to source cannabis from the illicit market, doctors fear.

Under changes to the Special Access Scheme ratified by the health regulator and now in effect, all applications to prescribe any amount of THC to under 17s must now be supported by a paediatrician or relevant specialist.
