Cannatrek has been fined $19,800 for allegedly breaching its medicinal cannabis licence by failing to meet statutory reporting obligations to the Office of Drug Control.
The ODC said the breach related to a requirement to inform it of “changes to ownership, management or functional control of medicinal cannabis operations and production”.
“Licence holders must understand and comply with their responsibilities under the Act and all licence conditions,” the drug enforcement agency said in a statement on its website
“Consequences for non-compliance with relevant laws include not only financial penalties but could also lead to civil or criminal proceedings being brought against those who fail to meet their requirements.”
It warned that repeated failures to comply “may also result in licence suspension or revocation”.
It is the second time the ODC has fined Cannatrek. In 2023 the company was hit with a $99,000 penalty for alleged security breaches.
Cannabiz has approached Cannatrek for comment.
