Perth-based Cannaponics has secured A$2 million in funding from the Western Australian Government’s Collie Futures Industry Development Fund to set up a medicinal cannabis operation in Collie.

The new facility will include a 1,000sqm greenhouse, laboratory and warehouse, and will be Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) certified to manufacture up to 1,000kg of dried cannabis and equivalent extracts per year.

Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan said the project is expected to generate around $4 million in revenue, with considerable benefits for the Collie community.

“WA’s south-west has optimal conditions for this industry’s agricultural requirements,” she added.
