Biortica Agrimed has launched its genetics business, Apollo Green, in Australia, with chief executive Tom Varga insisting it will free up cultivators to do what they do best; growing cannabis.

He said bringing the operation to the local market will “remove barriers” such as pheno hunting and quarantine delays.

“We are proud to introduce Apollo Green’s expertise and genetics to Australia,” Varga said. “Our mission is to empower Australian cultivators with reliable, high-performing genetics that drive innovation and profitability.

“Apollo Green Australia removes barriers like pheno hunting and quarantine delays, enabling growers to focus on cultivating exceptional cannabis.”

He said growers can take a genetic exclusively and build a brand in Australia “knowing they are protected”.

“Already Australian brands are showing strong demand for Apollo Green genetics cultivated in Australia. This is a great win for the industry,” Varga added.

Biortica said Apollo Green Australia will offer a 900-strong cultivar library, and bring “some of California’s most famous phenotypes to Australian soil”.

Among its partners are Californian breeders Purple City Genetics and Humboldt Seed Co.

“Active breeding and pheno-hunting programs ensure a continuous supply of elite genetics tailored to market needs and local conditions, providing Australian cultivators with the tools needed for ongoing success,” Biortica said in a statement announcing the launch.

“Apollo Green has also pre-cleared all plants through Australia’s strict quarantine protocols. This ensures immediate availability for growers, eliminating delays often associated with international imports.”

Biortica acquired the genetics business in 2023 in in a cash and scrip deal worth around $3m in cash.
