Althea Group has begun online sales of medicinal cannabis in Australia through its TGA-registered Althea Concierge platform.

Fast-tracked in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, patients can now order online delivery of Althea products without needing to visit a doctor or pharmacy.

When used in conjunction with video telemedicine, it allows doctors to prescribe Althea medicinal cannabis products via the platform and patients to pay for their prescription online.

First launched in Australia in September 2018, the platform provides education and clinical evidence for healthcare professionals looking to prescribe medicinal cannabis.

The updated version gives doctors the ability to issue personalised treatment plans, including customised dosage reminders, directly to their patients’ phones via an app.

Patients can also record their usage and give feedback to their GP and anonymised data is collated to give prescribers information on treatment effectiveness.

Althea CEO Josh Fegan said: “The ability for contactless sales is probably the biggest development yet for medicinal cannabis in Australia. We look forward to rolling out the updated version of Althea Concierge in the UK in the coming months.”
