Medicinal Cannabis Industry Australia (MCIA) has released the program for ACannabis 2025, with this year’s event set to explore regulatory changes, commercial strategy, product innovation and patient care across three days in Melbourne.

Running from August 11 to 13 at Crown Promenade, the event begins with the annual advisory and compliance day, now divided into two separate streams to better serve people working in either senior management or operational roles.

Sessions will cover topics including M&A activity, contract manufacturing, plant import biosecurity, IT innovation, financial tools, and logistics partnerships.

Speakers from the Therapeutic Goods Administration, Office of Drug Control and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency will be joined by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry – its first appearance at an ACannabis.

The department will discuss changes to import requirements for cultivating materials.

“Their presence reinforces the event’s credibility and highlights the collaborative effort towards driving the industry forward,” MCIA executive officer Patty Holmes said.

Across the main conference on August 12 and 13, speakers will examine issues including domestic market dynamics, legislative reform, GMP compliance, product development, and sector ethics.

The agenda will also feature sessions on medicine in aged care, women’s health and substance use, alongside updates from regulators and legal experts.

One of the key speakers is Aurora senior vice president Rick Savone.

Rick Savone will speak at ACannabis 2025

A former Canadian ambassador to Brazil, Savone has held senior diplomatic roles in China, the US, Mexico and Algeria, and chaired the Cannabis Council of Canada from 2020 until 2024.

Other speakers include Pablo Zuanic, Rhys Cohen, Tom Brown, Paul Long, Nan-Maree Schoerie, Justin Sinclair, Tom Forrest, John Ryan and Fiona Patten.

The program features panel discussions, case studies and Q&A formats, with Cannabiz founder Martin Lane chairing several sessions.

Networking remains a priority, with a welcome reception at Yarra Botanica on August 11, drinks on August 12, and a dedicated networking lounge open throughout the two main conference days.

Holmes added: “Join us as we celebrate innovation, seize opportunities, and pave the way for a brighter future in the medicinal cannabis industry.”
