New South Wales-based Medical Cannabis Australia (MCA) has launched its first range of medicinal cannabis in the Australian market after a six-month global hunt to source product.

The portfolio focuses on terpene-enriched high-THC medications, with three vape cartridges and three dried flower products available through the Special Access Scheme.

Four have already been released with the remaining two set for launch next month.

Plans to expand the range with other formulations and delivery formats are in the pipeline.

“We have been meticulous in selecting global partners who use advanced technology, ethical and sustainable practices to produce high-quality cannabinoid medicine from premium genetics,” MCA founder Sharon Bentley said.

“We have worked hard to ensure superior quality in every aspect of our products, all of which meet the new TGA GMP quality requirements that come into effect in July.”

The company, which is based in the Blue Mountains, declined to reveal who it selected as its partners, or where they are located.

It said the products were selected to meet the current market demand for inhalation cartridges and flower.

The cartridges use anti-leak and anti-clog technology to provide a “better patient experience”, MCA said, while the dried flower is “hand-trimmed and specially packaged to maintain freshness and control humidity”.

MCA will now embark on a mission to educate doctors about the product, with a particular focus on providing research and scientific education.

Industry consultant Cassandra Hunt, who has been working with MCA on the launch, said: “MCA launches with a genuine commitment to bring high-quality medicine to the market supported by programs to help ensure patients get the best possible therapeutic outcomes from medical cannabis treatment.”

BHC Canview will distribute the products for MCA.
