A new website has launched encouraging users to report allegations of unethical business practice in the Australian medicinal cannabis space to the authorities.

According to its mission statement, You can whistle is the brainchild of “anonymous advocates of medicinal cannabis” which “has been created due to the countless stories being shared of profits being put before patient care”.

It adds: “The Australian medicinal cannabis industry and the government authorities need to start investigating unethical and illegal business practices.

“This website is designed to anonymously catalogue reports of misconduct and pass them on to the relevant authorities.

“Our goal is to improve access to medicinal cannabis for all and stop bad actors from profiting off desperate patients. We want those involved in medicinal cannabis to be held to a higher standard.”

The site prompts users to report suppliers for issues including problems with a product being ignored, predatory advertising, and illegal or unethical business practices.

It asks patients to report their cannabis clinic if it is “holding your prescription hostage at their own pharmacy”, has prescribed clinic-owned products while offering no alternative, or for “charging you over-the-top fees for unnecessary services”.

Meanwhile, doctors are in the firing line if they are “forcing specific brands or products” on patients, if they have ignored their healthcare concerns and overall well being, or if they verbally abused them.

Users are are referred directly to the complaint pages of the relevant authorities – the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

A domain trace shows that the identity of the site’s owners has been withheld.
